NUCLEO’S AIM IS TO BRING YOUNG PEOPLE TOGETHER TO CREATE CHANGE FOR THEMSELVES AND THEIR COMMUNITIES THROUGH COLLECTIVE MUSIC-MAKING
The pilot of the Nucleo Young Leaders orchestral camp will take place from 23rd to 26th October 2022 at The Pioneer Centre in Worcestershire.
They are currently accepting applications from young musicians from around the UK who:
- Are aged 11 to 17 on 1st September 2022
- Play an orchestral instrument to at least grade 5 level
- Are committed to the goal of developing their leadership, both as a musician and beyond
- Have a connection to the area of music for social action – this could be either as a participant (past or present) in a programme whose mission includes championing social change through music, or because of an individual connection or affinity with this concept
Participants will have the opportunity to spend three days together with like-minded young musicians and leaders, as well as an inspiring team of adults, all focused on creating an ensemble together, developing relationships, and growing both musical and non-musical skills for leadership, community-building and change-making. The camp is residential, and all costs (including travel to and from the location) will be covered for participants.
To apply, you will need to complete a form (link below), submit a video of yourself playing a piece on your instrument, and answer a few short questions that will tell us a bit about you (these can be answered either in writing or by video).
The application form can be found here: https://forms.office.com/r/55vMuKESY9
Applications will be accepted until MONDAY 10th October.
