Friends of Wolverhampton Music Service

The Friends of the Wolverhampton Music Service have continued to provide longstanding support and belief in the work of Wolverhampton Music Service.

We continue to believe that making music is something every young person should have the opportunity to enjoy. This belief is now reflected in our full charitable status.

What We Do

Every year the Charity raises funds to support new Music Service projects and equipment, or to support children facing disadvantage in their Musical Education.

We also support Music Service concerts by providing refreshments and raffles.

The money raised through our work at concerts ensures that there is no ticket charge for any Music Service events.

This means that parents and families can support the music education of their children at these important milestones.

Music for Everyone

Why We Do It

In 2019 Wolverhampton was the 24th most deprived of 317 English Local Authorities, although had improved from the 17th most deprived in the prior Indices of Deprivation release from 2015.

Put simply, without the Music Service providing many of its out-of-school services free for children, many children would simply be unable to afford to access to a high-quality, specialist, music education.

We support this vision and the universal entitlement to playing a musical instrument in our city.

At a time when successful fundraising is an increasingly vital route to achieving the aims of many arts and educational organisations, the Friends are committed to contributing to the work of Wolverhampton Music Service and to positively promoting our charity to any audience.
