Our partner organisation Wolverhampton Symphony Orchestra reports an very exciting increase in the number of young string players now performing in the orchestra. In the concert on Saturday 18th March there were 46 string players and 23 wind and percussion. An exciting aspect of the rehearsals was the conducting of student member Matthew Potts.
The next concert is on Saturday June 24th, with a programme of Spanish Music including music from Bizet’s Carmen and Rodrigo’s famous Guitar Concerto, with soloist Mark Ashford, who is the Guitar Professor at Birmingham Conservatoire.
Remember that WSO’s concerts, held at Wolverhampton Grammar School at 7.30, are free for any student who wishes to go along and listen.
