The Big Bass Day – Friday 24th February 2023

We would like to make you aware of a fabulous opportunity for young double bass players, happening on Friday 24th February at the Royal Birmingham Conservatoire.

Internationally renowned double bass virtuoso Lorraine Campet will be visiting.  She will perform a dazzling recital and give masterclasses to students at RBC and visiting students from other institutions.  Also, in residence that day are double bass players Tony Alcock and Caroline Emery.  Members of the public will be able to observe Lorraine, Tony and Caroline teaching and there is an opportunity for visiting young bass players to sign up for an individual masterclass with these fantastic ambassadors for the double bass.

Students are invited to join CBSO Section Leader Double bass Tony Alcock in a group session on all the famous passages. They will explore the different ways of “playing together” as a section, which is one of the most important skills in the orchestra. It will be a great chance to explore orchestral techniques and interpretations.

The event is completely free to attend and also to take part in a masterclass.  Please find more information and details of how to book by clicking on the link below:-
