Wolverhampton Youth Music Theatre News – Monster Mash Up Half term Course and Bedazzle’s Mental Health First Aid Course

September saw the return of live local theatre, with our very own youth theatre, WYMT, being one of the first companies to perform the wonderful ‘Matilda the Musical’, at the Arena Theatre in Wolverhampton. After virtual auditions through summer and just two weeks of rehearsals, they opened on Thursday 9th September to sold-out audiences across four shows. The opening night was well attended by members of the city council, who all applauded the efforts of the city’s youth talent.

This was the first year the youth theatre have opened up to junior members, as young as 8 and are currently busy planning more school holiday performance opportunities for the year ahead, including a “Monster Musical Mash Up” performance in October Half Term, at the Music School! The week will be spent workshopping new musical mash ups, alongside some fiendishly musical numbers to get us in the mood for Halloween. Workshops will run everyday from Monday 25th to Friday 29th October, with sharing performances over the weekend.
