Make Music Day 2020 – West Midlands network event in Stourbridge

Make Music Day 2020 – West Midlands network event

About this Event

Join us to hear about the international celebration that is Make Music Day (always on 21 June) on Monday 3 February in Stourbridge!

There will be representatives from Make Music Day UK and Making Music to talk about previous Make Music Days in the UK. This is an opportunity for musicians of all genres of music, and professional or amateur, young or old, music groups, arts organisations, community organisations, venues, businesses to discuss how to get involved and maybe form some instant partnerships with others.

Make Music Day is a grassroots DIY festival of music and anyone can perform or organise an event – there are only two rules: events take place on 21 June, and are free to the public to attend. Events take place in venues and public spaces – from town squares to libraries, bandstands to school halls, pubs to train stations. Started in France in 1982 as Fête de la Musique, this celebration of music now takes place in 125 countries on the summer solstice.

On 21 June 2019 over 1,200 free performances took place across the UK, reaching live and digital audiences of more than140,000 people. Check out the MMD website for images and video from this summer. Download the 2019 evaluation report here.
