As part of our Secondary Music network meetings, The Wolverhampton Music Education Hub are pleased to offer a twilight CPD session run by the London Philharmonic Orchestra for music staff in Wolverhampton and the Black Country on January 22nd 2020 at 4.30 pm. “The Studio” is an online space created by the London Philharmonic Orchestra for teenage composers and their teachers to access valuable, relevant and reliable resources to support composition in exam groups through exploration of music linked to the art forms of film, dance and theatre.
The Studio includes:
• Creative composition briefs with guidance
• Insights into the professional world of composing
• GCSE and A Level syllabus-related material
• General composition resources
It also provides an online space for schools and students to showcase their composition work
“The LPO are very pleased to be partnering Wolverhampton Music Education Hub to share “The Studio” with teachers and tutors in Wolverhampton and the surrounding areas. We are offering a free, hands-on, twilight CPD session on 22nd January 2020 led by an experienced LPO animateur, exploring some of the composition resources in depth.”
This twilight session is offered as part of the WMEH network meetings for secondary music colleagues. The only commitment from schools attending is to select a composition idea(s) to explore to work with their students and upload any resulting compositions to the LPO studio website. Schools choose how long this follow up lasts, it may be just an individual homework, a couple of lessons or can form the basis of a much longer project. It is entirely up to individual schools.
This is an excellent opportunity for schools in Wolverhampton and the Black Country to work with one of the premiere Music organisations/orchestras in the UK to develop the breadth and quality of composition opportunities they offer their Music students
