Charanga. This has been a revelation this year! We now have no less than 75 schools registered to use Charanga in Wolverhampton (which The Music Service fund) with over 97% of Wolverhampton Primary and 3 Special schools now engaged and using this incredible resource. We ourselves have 31 staff with licenses to access the resources they offer and there are now 1085 further staff in Wolverhampton schools registered to use the service as well as 9281 pupils using it at home (both figures are literally growing weekly!)
Yumu is the additional facility in Charanga for students to access at home. Staff register their students then can set, send and receive specific tasks to complete and assess. The resource provides a complete curriculum for use both in school and at home and has been adapted for use in the current circumstances within the DofE recommendations re vocal and instrumental work. There are regular free webinars for staff to access plus our own training and information regarding what these guidelines are and how to access and use the resources. 17 staff from the city took part in the first of the Charanga webinars in January 2021 and we regularly update all schools with further opportunities as well as still offering our own bespoke training.
Together with our Key stage 1 & 2 video lessons delivered weekly, and the resources identified on the website, we share and distribute information as we receive it so are able to offer a comprehensive package for Schools to utilise – ensuring a continuous effective and meaningful Music curriculum for pupils in the City.
