Our two exceptionally popular singing events are back again this year starting on Tuesday 11th June in Queen Square, Wolverhampton with “Singing in the Rain”
Hundreds of our Primary and Special school children from the city will join forces in this very special outdoor concert/celebration of singing that has become a fantastic annual focus for the staff and pupils taking part. Each year they are guided by our very own Paul Wilcox through a series of twilight workshops for staff from participating schools. This provides an opportunity not only to learn the songs so they can then go back and work in their schools to cover the repertoire for the day, it also provides excellent opportunities for training/professional development for the staff taking part which they can then use in the vocal tuition they deliver in their schools. In Queen Square Paul is joined by a live Group made up of Music service and school staff.
The second Singing event is Sing For Summer, this takes place in the same week as our Summer series of concerts and shares the venue of St John’s in the Square. For this evnet Paul goes out into schools to deliver workshops with the students preparing the songs for the event. Again, at the Sing For Summer event, schools join together for this celebratory festival of singing. As well as singing together they can also choose to present their own individual school performances.
Both events demonstrate our commitment to delivering high quality opportunities to support our Wolverhampton Music Education Hub Singing Strategy.
What’s next? Watch out for details of our next development a Secondary school Choir currently under development for later this year.
